At the time the John Tigard House was constructed in 1880, it was
at the heart of a farming community later known as Tigardville.
The Victorian style farm home was built by Wilson Tigard, one of
the founding families of the area, for his son, John Tigard, as a
wedding gift. Originally located on Pacific Highway at the intersection
of McDonald Street, the house was moved in 1978 to it current location
and named to the National Historic Registry in 1979. As the only
historic home in Tigard which is open to the public, this charming
house has been maintained and restored through countless volunteer hours
and funded by private donations.
